     Get ready for an action-packed Spring  break weekend with our Boy Scouts of  America Pinewood Derby event!    

Date: Monday March 4th, 2024 

Time: 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM

Location: 100 NW Orange Dr, Huntsville, AL 35810

     Calling all young engineers, artists, and speed enthusiasts! Join us for an exhilarating Pinewood Derby Design Event where imagination meets craftsmanship. Here’s what you can expect:

• Each child who attends the Workshop will receive one BSA Pinewood Derby kit.
• Design Your Car: Start with a quick sketch of your dream car. Will it be sleek, futuristic, or hilariously quirky?
• Unleash creativity and plan your car  design.
• The purpose of the workshop is to not only educate our children about the science behind the Pinewood Derby, but to also help them design and build their cars and position them for success!

Recruitment Fair

     We’re excited to announce that the application fee for Scouts is  being waived, and registration fee for signing up with the Boy  Scouts will be reduced to $30* during this recruiting fair and  race event. Take advantage of this special offer!

     Whether you are looking to join scouts, or just looking for a fun family event, join us and show off your young one's engineering prowess! At Boy Scouts of America, we want to ensure that every child has the  opportunity to experience the camaraderie, adventure, and growth  that scouting offers. The event is open to children of Elementary  school age and their families. Whether you’re a seasoned scout or  new to scouting, everyone is welcome!

Participants will be able to compete for awards within the race, but also for recognition from these Design Award Categories:

• Best Paint Design: Brightest, boldest, and most eye-catching cars.
• Most Futuristic: Jet-powered? Time-traveling? Let your imagination soar!
• Most Original: Inventive Wheels, Boundless Imagination!
• Most Realistic: Precision Craftsmanship, Lifelike Speed!
• Fastest Looking Car: Fast, Furious, and Fabulous: Pinewood Derby Time 
• Most Patriotic: A Patriotic car that screams USA!
• Funniest Car: Laughter guaranteed!
• Most Creative: Unleash creativity on wheels.
• Coolest Design: Let the young judges decide their favorite.

Origins of the Pinewood Derby:In 1953, Cubmaster Don Murphy sparked a tradition that has raced through generations. Scouts and parents working together to build mini masterpieces. The Pinewood Derby, a gravity-based thrill, celebrates creativity, innovation, and sportsmanship.

Safety First:Eye protection, well-lit workspaces, and adult supervision are our tools. Let’s build memories that last a lifetime!
